Stergios Konstantinou participated as a speaker in Homo Digitalis’ Fire Chat No.3, focusing on “Smart Traffic Enforcement Cameras” and the compliance challenges surrounding their implementation.
The discussion focused on the new legal framework introduced by Law 5256/2025, the use of Artificial Intelligence systems for traffic violation detection, the compliance requirements under the GDPR and the AI Act, as well as broader issues relating to transparency, accountability, and the protection of fundamental rights.
The deployment of surveillance technologies in public spaces highlights the importance of maintaining an appropriate balance between road safety, technological innovation, and the effective protection of individuals’ rights and freedoms.
